This rigorous, 4-hour defibrillator Skills course is designed to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to operate an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safely and effectively in emergency situations. Defibrillator Skills Course focuses specifically on the use of AEDs, which are portable devices that can be used to help individuals experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. 

Topics covered in a Defibrillator Skills course: 

  • The role of AEDs in cardiac arrest management 
  • Anatomy and physiology of the heart 
  • Safety considerations when using an AED 
  • Preparation for AED use, including electrode pad placement 
  • Use of an AED in conjunction with CPR 
  • Troubleshooting common AED issues 
  • Maintenance and storage of AEDs 

The course includes both theoretical and practical components, including hands-on training in AED use. Participants will learn how to recognize the signs and symptoms of sudden cardiac arrest, as well as how to respond quickly and effectively to provide appropriate care using an AED. 

Course Available to Private Groups, Organizations, and Clubs  

Upon successful completion of the Defibrillator Skills course, participants will have the knowledge and skills necessary to operate an AED safely and effectively in emergency situations, and they will receive a certificate that is valid for two years.
