Mental Health First Aid REFRESHER Course:
This course is a refresher of our EHS International Mental Health First Aid training. You must hold a valid EHS International Certificate in Mental Health First Aid in order to be eligible to attend this refresher course.
A trained Mental Health First Aider can assist workers and management in developing and implementing effective Mental Health strategies and policies and procedures. The trained Mental Health first aider will manage the initial presentation of a Mental Health case in a genuine and non-judgemental way including supportive listening and conversations, providing an effective plan for appropriate follow on support. Lead Instructor: Louise Dennison O’Shaughnessy
The competency and experience of the instructor is a key element in the effective delivery of any course. Louise Dennison O’Shaughnessy is the Lead Instructor for both our Online Web delivery course and our classroom courses. Louise set up the Dennison Training Academy in 2018, specialising in Mental First aid consultancy and training. She is accepted as one of the leading experts in this area and carries out many seminars and lectures each year. Louise heads up the EHS International Mental Health team.
Course Objectives
During this course, the attendees will build knowledge and awareness of mental health, learn to recognise the signs and symptoms of common mental health issues, and understand how stigma can be a barrier to open conversations in the workplace.
Course Overview:
This course aims to refresh learners on how to feel empowered and equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to support a work colleague, a friend, a family member or others experiencing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis such as being suicidal or having a panic attack. Early intervention is a key part of any good mental health strategy
