Course Overview
The 1-day, Cardiac First Responder Advanced Course is designed for individuals who may be called upon to respond to cardiac and life-threatening emergencies. This course is especially suited for emergency services personnel, healthcare professionals, and those involved in pre-hospital care settings.
The CFR-A standard exceeds community-level training, focusing on advanced airway management, team-based resuscitation, and oxygen administration.
Topics Covered in the CFR Advanced Course:
- Airway management:
- Suctioning
- Use of Oropharyngeal (OPA) and Supraglottic Airway (SGA) devices
- Bag Valve Mask (BVM) ventilation
- Pulse checking
- Oxygen administration
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use
- Roles in team resuscitation
- Patient handover and reporting
- Information management in emergency scenarios
- Team-based response techniques (new PHECC 2016 guideline)
Prerequisites:
This course is suitable for individuals currently working in or planning to work in:
- Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
- Fire and Rescue Services
- Healthcare facilities
- Community care settings
Participants should be over the age of 18 & must be comfortable performing basic life support skills and ideally have prior CFR Community certification.
Certification:
Upon successful completion of the Cardiac First Responder Advanced (CFR-A) Course, you will receive a PHECC-recognised CFR Advanced certificate.
The PHECC-recognised CFR Advanced certificate is valid for two years.
